I photograph places I spent my childhood imagining from afar. When I'm finally in these landscapes, winter shorelines, bare trees, shifting light, I move slowly. I spend quiet hours in solitude. Lately I work this way indoors as well, with flowers, with fruit, with objects at the end of their use. The act of being there is inseparable from photographing it. Without one, the other holds little meaning.
The photographs are my personal translation of these places, an effort to make visible the internal experience of being present in a landscape. Behind each image is accumulated time: time spent waiting for the light, time in the printing process. That time becomes visible in the care of each choice.
I photograph these places to honor them. They are changing. Coastlines shift. Ecosystems transform. It feels important to document their beauty before they disappear, but more than that, to say: I have been here. I have paid attention. I have seen you. I hope viewers feel that same attention. That ordinary things hold extraordinary beauty, and in that beauty, there is meaning.
