Filament

These photographs look at what usually goes unnoticed: a web strung between branches, dew held on a stem, frost catching the last of the light. They are small things, easy to walk past, and they last only as long as the morning does.

I photograph them the way I photograph shorelines, slowly and up close, waiting for the light to find them. What draws me is how little it takes to hold something together. A single thread, lit from behind, becomes the most solid thing in the frame.

This work is about paying attention at a smaller scale, and about the quiet persistence of things too fine to seem strong.

Each photograph is available as an archival pigment print in an edition of ten, printed by me on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. Prints are signed and numbered, and sizes are available on request.
