Sift

Sand falling in long exposure, and one shell holding still inside it.

The exposure is long enough that the sand stops reading as separate grains and becomes line, a rush of pale streaks moving through the dark. The shell does not move. It stays sharp while everything around it turns to motion, and that difference is the whole photograph.

I made these on the beach, close to the ground, working with what was already there. Sand is one of the few things that will not hold a shape, and a shell is what is left when something that could has gone.

Prints

Each photograph is available as an archival pigment print in an edition of ten, printed by me on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. Prints are signed and numbered, and sizes are available on request.

Please write with the title of the image you are interested in, and I will send pricing and available sizes.
